Edward L. Thrasher
Senior Pastor & Teacher
Pastor Edward L. Thrasher was born on August 29, 1962, to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Thrasher. He was educated in the Chattanooga City School system and studied at Chattanooga State College & DeVry College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Pastor Thrasher is an investor, visionary, business owner and the proud pastor of Stoney Point Baptist Church. He is the proud father of three children, Mareisha, Demetrius & Jessica, and the proud grandfather of two beautiful granddaughters – Adori & Bailee.
Pastor Thrasher preached his first sermon on March 31, 1996, at Good Neighbors New Testament Church under the leadership of Dr. William Whiteside. He has been proclaiming God’s Anointed Word since that time. He was ordained as a minister on February 28, 1999, and took on the pastoral role of Stoney Point later that year.
Since his tenure at Stoney Point, the church body has grown significantly; new programs to enhance the spiritual growth of the church have been implemented; and the church is more financially stable. On July 6, 2008, Pastor Thrasher’s vision was fulfilled as the Stoney Point family moved into our new 800 seat, state-of-the-art edifice. For this we give God all the glory and honor.
He has also fulfilled the vision that God gave him to bring churches of all races and denominations together to worship collectively by developing the “Power Packed Preaching Conference.” This conference has had seven successful years, has birthed the “Power Packed Bible Study Hour” at the church, as well as, provided scholarships to deserving high school graduates.
Pastor Thrasher is truly a sincere and dedicated servant of God. He is a very compassionate and caring leader with a vision to take the people of God to higher heights. Along with God, he thanks Rev. Melvin Thompson for the role he played in his training on this ministerial journey.
His humble servant.
